Samsung open to cross-licensing accord with Apple

Samsung appears to from softened its stance ahead of court-enforced cease-fire talks with Apple, raising craving that this week's peak could see the beginning of the end of the patent wars.

Conception: Should rivals be banned on Apple's say-so?

Shin had once upon a time indicated he would offer "no compromise" with Apple in the brawl that has seen the companies column suit against each other in commendable countries around the world.

Even so, he told reporters on Sunday: "There is calm a big gap in the patent war with Apple but we at rest have several negotiation options including irritated-licensing."

End in sight?

If Apple is favourable, it could mean the two companies could capacity reach an accord on allowing each other access to the brainy property being debated.

In any case, it's difficult to see Tim Cook's charges sacrificing their hunger-held believe that Samsung "blatantly copied" the iPhone and iPad for its Galaxy Tab slates and Galaxy smartphones.

The own parties are meeting following orders from a California arbiter, who is seemingly as bored with these too universal at each other as the rest of the globe.

Let's hope the end is in sight.

without comments

Apple and Samsung are set to stumble on May 21st for settlement talks, and Samsung’s portable head JK Shin is sounding sanguine that talks can be fruitful, albeit he does warn that there’s tranquillity a lot they are not seeing eye-to-eye on. At the Seoul airport on the way to the U.S. talks, Shin told reporters the following:

“There is hush a big gap in the patent war with Apple but we peaceful have several negotiation options including testy-licensing.“

This is definitely a softening of the intercourse used by Shin in March when he promised “no compromise.” It’s steely to believe tomorrow’s talks wishes end in rainbows and unicorns.

When asked take the 4G chip shortage Samsung is currently experiencing, Shin said it was expected to prolong until early in the fourth section of this year, meaning some leisure in October. This could be a big pretty pickle as the LTE-capable Galaxy S III is on the horizon in the Agreed States and could be forced to use other vendors’ 4G chips to maintain production numbers up.

Some HTC ‘products’ are allowed to enter the U.S. Market after passing U.S. Customs review

without comments

A few days ago we reported that the AT&T One X and the Sprint EVO 4G LTE were being held up at the U.S. Customs, and were being investigated for breaking for Apple patent #5,946,647, which involves the messaging attention. This resulted in obvious delays and a done cancellation of the EVO 4G LTE launch on Sprint.

Taipe Times is reporting that some of HTC’s “products” are now allowed to penetrate the U.S. market after passing the customs review.

“Some of our products secure passed the review and have been delivered to our telecoms operators’ clients in the US,” HTC said in a utterance submitted to the Taiwan Stock Disagreement yesterday.

Which products we don’t discern. It’s interesting that they tolerant of the word “products” not smartphones. Were there other result categories that were held up? It seems unfit that the Apple patent twisted would hold up anything else, but I fancy it’s also possible that the shipment capacity have included accessories that were “automatically” held up as a d since they were percentage of the same shipment. Maybe the assertion is referring to those “products.”

It’s also attainable that other phones were held up as admirably. For example, the T-Mobile One S wasn’t mentioned in any quondam stories, but I would assume it’s field to the same patent issue. Other older models could be experiencing been held up as well.

Also in an odd assertion is this:

“The company is closely working with the US customs to despatch up the review,” HTC said in the statement. “The throng is confident that the problem purposefulness be resolved soon.”

It’s distinct that all the “products” or smartphones haven’t been released so we in reality don’t have much else to despatch. We really don’t know what products or smartphones from been cleared. Could the set free of the EVO 4G LTE be immanent? Either way it’s at least unquestioned news since HTC was expecting up to 3 weeks to obsolete the Customs review, and the fact that it appears HTC already corrected the tough nut to crack to begin with, doesn’t aggrieve.

Stay tuned as we will account it as soon as we hear it.
